BOOT TRADE CONGRESS.
ANNUAL MEETING OF UNION . REPRESENTATIVES.
The annual congress of the New Zealand Federated Boot Trode Unions has commenced in Auckland. Mr. C. '• Barnes, president of the executive council is presiding ami the delegates are:— Mr C. Veint (Tnvrrcargill), Miss Seal, Messrs. F. Tones and P. C. Brown (Dunedin). Miss Moncrief and Messrs. J. Shirlaw and J. Greartey. C^ - *! l-1----church) Miss Watson and Messrs. W. Williams and J. Moore (Wellington), Mr. J. Cook, (Taranakii. Miss Tickner and Messrs. C. P. Barnes and E. Tredrea (Auckland). A letter from the Minister of Labour was received through the Federal Council stating that the Arbitration Act could not he amended to enable rules to be registered so that death benefits could be paid by industrial unions. The letter is to be held over until the federal rule, are under consideration. The Labour Department forwanteJ an explanatory letter regarding the recent amendment to the Arbitration Act. It was decided that the letter tie held ov«r until the present order paper is disposed of.
