NEW ZEALAND'S GIFT. MAYOR'S THANKS. (From Onr Special Correspondent.) LONDON, Nov. 2. The following is a translation of the letter which the High Commissioner, Sir James Allen, has just received from the Mayor of Longueval:— Dear Sir,—l have much pleasure in acknowledging receipt of your kind letter with which you transmit to mc a cheque for 1500 francs for the poor of Longueval. Your generous gift went straight to mv heart, for I must confess that of all i the British Empire only New Zealand has not forgotten our little unfortunate village which was ruined 'by the terrible war.
