THE TEST TEAM.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Allow mc to add my protest to that of Mr. Nettleton's on the exclusion of C. Dacre from the test team. To the many followers of the game the omission of his name caused the greatest surprise, nnd it would be interesting to have the reason from the selectors. It surely cannot be on ability, for this player is probably unsurpassed as a fielder — would be selected by popular vote as amongst the first half dozen batsmen—and is a decidedly useful change bowler. His display last season in the Wellington match proves that he possesses the temperament for big cricket. In the interest of the game here it is imperative that our strongest team be fielded. With Dacre absent it is the almost unanimous opinion amongst cricketers here that the team is weakened. Therefore if a statement from the selectors stating that nothing besides their judgment on his playing ability for his non-inclusion would be forthcoming this will silence much criticism that is being showered in sporting circles on those responsible for selecting the team. —I am, etc., I VINCENT BERT.
