DEVONPORT LOAN.
(To the Editor.) Sir.—'Recent cables stated that £50,000 to bear interest at 54 per cent had been over subscribed in. London on behalf of the Devonport Borough Council at £97 10/. On the face of it the price and rate of interest seems reasonable; but knowing the ramifications of the London finance market, and having had a little experience with the money kings there, it would be interesting to have the full details and period of Che loan. I trust that an assurance will lx> received from the Mayor that the Devonport ratepayers are to get the • benefit of £07 10/ in every £100 subscribed.—4 am etc., R. A. SPIXiLEY.
