More propitious weather conditions prevailed this morning, when tbe second day's •play of the Auckland Lawn. Tenuis Association's annual handicap tournament was commenced. Gtames were started at 9 a.m., and efficient work on the part of the secretarial staff made It possible for players to take the courts without unnecessary delay. During the forenoon the courts were faster than yesterday, the grass having dried, and some Interesting games were witnessed. In tbe men's singles the match between ■Watson and Harrison provided one of the best expositions of the morning, Watjon winning 6—l. 6-2- Both players disregarded safe tactics, and made the game a fast one from the commencement by hard hitting. 'Harrison w«a a little uncertain with his backhand strokes, but showed to adv«Jtage in the overhead work. Watson made very few mistakes, and the game was outstanding for the absence of anything reeemWrng ping-pong "ball putting. In the second round of the * nra »»__2 v __* another good game ™«£"T S •between Stnro and Ohlson. The lastnaoT£ was on a fairly difficult handdcap. and Sturt won two sets to his one.
