TRAMWAY EXTENSION.
MANAGER'S PROGRESS REPORT. In a progress report on the city trami ways, the manager informed the council 1 last night that ample supplies of coal ; were in hand. The Kingsland sub- . st-ation had showed a satisfactory power trial on September 23, and was expected to start running regularly on October , 24. The insulated wires along the Great South Road extension had all been nm ; out. and the laying of the underground cable for the now Epsom feeder had tren completed, and was being connected up with the overhead wires. The work of constructing the new cars was well under way, the woodwork sections being near completion. On Manukau I Road, in the One Tree Hill district, the [ reconstruction of thp foundation had ! been completed to Gardener Road, and j the opening up of the trark and renewal jof rails as far as Onelow Boad. In tho I Kpsom district Ihe reconstruction had I been completed to Owen's Road. The j Order-in-Council fnr the Great South ! Road extension had now been executed , and the plans approved by the Minister of Public Works. " j — I
