CONFERENCE OF ALLIES. SUGGESTED BY BRITAIN. FRANCE PROPOSES PARIS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—CopyrtckU . LONDON, October 18. The TiritUh Ciovernment has suggested to Kriune and Italy that a meeting of Allied experts should he held in London as soon as possible to discutfs any necessary modifications of the financial and' economic clauses of the Treaty of Sevres. There is no question that the conference will be quite informal, and no definite decisions will be taken.

Italy lias agreed to be represented nt tho meeting, but i'rance has not yet replied.— (Reuter.)

it seiui-offleially stated in Paris that the French Crovernment, while accepting the principle-frf discussion by experts on modification of the Treaty of Sevres. 13 of opinion that the Turkish Nationalist leaders might be led by tho innate distrust of Orientals to imagine that the inter-Allied conference was designed to prejudice Ottoman interests. Therefore, the selection of London as tha venue will import new difficulty into already complicated negotiations. Hence the Vrencn Government purposes that tho meeting should bo held in Paris, where the pr<-° liminary work of settlement of the Near East problem was undertaken in March last.—(A. and N.Z. table.)
