ECLIPSE OBSERVATIONS.
INCIDENCE OF SHADOW BANDS OBSERVED DURING TOTALITY. (Received 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Professor Cooke, explaining the results *f the experiments respecting the •hadow hands during the eclipse, cays the first series of bands appeared nearly • hah 1 minute after totality commenced, and the second series nearly half a minute before totality finished. In Othtr words, the phenomenon occurred during totality, which is an important result, and differs entirely from the nsual conception as stated in text-books and popular literature. The result was •n excellent illustration of the value of registering events according to the Einstein method.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
