PARISH DANCES.
A HEALTHY AMUSEMENT. TIOAKS MADE BESPONSEBUL (By Telegraph.—Special to "Stab") OKRISTCHURCH, this day. Dancing under proper direction io parish halls ihas the approval of Archbishop Julius. In his presidential addrese to the Diocesan Synod at Chrietchuroh he said that General Synod had decreed that the keys, and with them, the control of parish halls, shall be given to the vicar. If they had been, the keys of Heaven the Synod could not have wasted more time upon them, but opposition was strong, and there ie axotthing to be said for it. In many a country town the parish hall wae tit only, or perhaps the best hall for a dance. Young people of both eexee would meet furtively if they must, openly if they may, and it seemed altogether desirable they should have opportunity of meeting for a wholesome dance in a parish hall in good company and under unobtrusive care, rather than that their healthy instincts should be condemned, and they themselves exposed to danger. The vicar might not approve of dancing, or there might be difficulty as to the conditions imposed. In such a case, or in that of other desired use of the hall, appeal could be made to the Bishop and standing committee, ■whoat decision would be final.
