GUARANTEE OF STIPENDS. The Diocesan Synod went into committee last night to consider Mr. .1. HogbctiV bill to amend the financial regulations, the principal clause of which is the insertion of a new regulation providing that if tlw stipend contributions from a vestry are not paid to the diocesan office by the end of the month, the amount of such contributions due to clergymen for that month shall be advanced and paid by the diocesan office, provided that no such advance of stij.end , shnll be paid, if, at tlie end of the I month, the vestry owes to the diocesan! office more than one monti.'s contribu-i tions in respect of advances previously made. The effect of this regulation i's that in the event of non-payment by the parish of its regular monthly instalment the diocesan office shall not advance more than two of the monthly payments. UAXAGEMEXT OF CEMETERIES, j Mr. A. B. Robert-son's bill to amend the regulations for management of cemeteries pa=.-ed its second reading and was taken intj committee. The bill provides for boards consisting of the vicar and churchwarden? or. when preferred, a board elected specially by the parishioners of the nnrish in which the cemetery is situated. No suicide. unbapti>ed or excommunicated pfrson shall be interred unless the special service for such it read over the body, and no monument or epitaph shall be erected or inscribed without the written approval of the vicar. Authority is to be given the cemetery board to cause to be removed any fence or enclosure which is unsightly or dilapidated.
