Farnsworth uu> gratefully acknowledged. A vote of sympathy was passed with the widow of the late Mr. Win. Thorne, who rlird recently, he having been a good ! friend to the sooietv. and for mailv years : one of the linn, solicitors. The ladies' committee handed over the : sum nf £107, being net proceeds of the concerl latrly held in the Town Hall by the Bohemian Orchcnra for the benefit of tho society's fund-. It was resolved tn send a letter of thanks to Mr. H.. • Hemiis. eh.iirnmn of tbe orchestra, ask- ' I inn him also to convey thanks to Mr.j : j Muston, the enndu'tnr, and the artists. 1 The society thanked Mr. A. .1. Tlutchin- : i son for bi-i kindness in regard to the ! advertising. ' I A letter received from the city engineer advised that the Council had decided Jto provide a lethal chamber to aeeommo- : date larp.-r do?s. and carbon-monoxide j gas would be need as the killing agent ' instead of coal uas.
