REDUCTION IN WAGES. PREMIER URGES DELAY. IBy Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright) (Received 11 i.m.) OTTAWA, August 15. The Premier of Canada, Mr. McKenzie King, hag requested the Canadian railway companies to defer reduction of wages or to restore the previous rates pending the decision of the Government Conciliation Board. The 'workers claimed that the reduction was made while their appeal to the board was still pending. The Premier states that there can be no guarantee of industrial peace or preservation of law if parties to industrial disputes place their own interpretation on Acts of Parliament passed for the purpose of avoiding strikes. — (A. and N.Z.
