AN HOTEL BURNED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) METHVEJf, this day. Tho Canterbury Hotel at Methven, a two-storeye"cl building of about fortyrooms, was completely destroyed by lire early this morning. . .Soventeen persons in the building escaped witli little more than their night cloihes. The stock-in-trade, building and furniture were insured, but the amount is unknown. The licensee and lessee was Mr. James McTaggart. and tho hotel was jointly owned by Manning and Co. and D. Niel. both of Chrlstchurch.
