PRICE OF BUTTER
ONE PENNY ADVANCE. ' The price of best dairy butter advanced one penny per pound to-day. This meaD. 1/9 per lb. retail. A further advance is not improbable, seeing that prkes have risen in London. The position locally is that factories have advanced the price from l/5i to 1/0} net to retailers. In Wellington the wholesale price is 1/8, and at Chrrstchurch 1/7 per lb. Latest. advice regarding the London market quotes 200/ per cwt. for New Zealand butter, which works out at 1/7} per IK f-o.b. in New Zealand. That, however. is for bulk butter, and it costs another I'd per lb. to make the butter into pats and distribute it.
