STEAMER'S NARROW ESCAPE.
— ' i KARORI STRIKES ON BAR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, Sunday. When outward-bound to-day the steamed Karori had a narrow escape from disaster. The vessel had a heavy load of coal and timber for Lyttelton and Miramar, and reached the bar drawing 18ft 6in. The water was apparently not deep enough, and she struck three times, sounding a loud blast of her siren each time. By good fortune she was in charge of a tug which managed to draw iier out to safety.
