The Labour Conference motion summoning the Inter-State Conference to reconsider tho Brisbane objective is regarded as a victory for the Moderates. The majority of the speakers contended that they were in favour of tho principles of llip now objective, but not (if tin- methods as laid down in the ruling of tin , chairman in declaring the motion within the jurisdiction of the Conference. On being challenged he further ruled that ill the event of other States refusing io grant a Conference, or such Conference failing to effect alteration in the constitution as desired, the New South Wales brunch will loyally abide by the decision of the Brisbane Conference and the objective they adopted.
A conference of union delegates and the industrial workers group passed a resolution that the conference was convened only to enforce the decisions of the June conference of 1021, held in Melbourne, and to suggest means for giving , eflVct to the programme decided upon there. It was further resolved that the Parliamentary group of members refusing to execute the mandates of the State Council be immediately recalled, and thrir resignations tendered, nnd that arv Parliamentary member refusing to obey be disqualified for life. It -was also recommended that reorganisation of the Trades Union movement be effected on lines providing for complete unification of the political industrial sections, by replacing the present Labour council/ with a Commonwealth Council supported by the State and sectional councils based on industrial group ischeme. — (A. and X.Z.
