WEST END ESTATE.
A deputation comprising Mr. J. McKenzie and Mr. A. Dixon waited on the city engineer to-day re the state of the road and footpath leading to the West End Estate, beyond Cox's Creek. They stated that a promise was given to the deputation six months ago that a full-width footpath would be made. About £300 was being collected in rates yet nothing was being done. The engineer said he was now able to go on with the permanent work, and would have this seen to at once. The same deputation waited on the chairman and engineer of the Power Board, and a strong case was put forward that the main line be continued to the estate. . The deputation were informed that providing permission was granted by the private owners the position would be put before the next meeting of the board.
