A fair meeting of Newton householders was held in St. Peters' Church, and presided over hy Mr. J. Jenkin. The following were elected:—Messrs. F. W. Brinsden, 74; H. ,T. Donald (chairman), 70; C. MorrU, 70: J. M. Malcolm, 04; W. Mills, 68: B. Collett. 61; ,T. Baird, 60; G. Eerr (treasurer), 58: p. Bradley. 54. Mrs. A. Carter, who received 40 votes, was als.o a candidate. Mr. A. Jenkin was elected secretary.
