" V i r ;A\- S - AM., yesterday eun-'-•luded the inquiry into the circumstances connected with the death of Lucy Acnes I'ord through a collisiin between a motor car and a cycle on Mangere; bridge. Sergeant Cruickehank repre-! eented the police, Mr. Moody appeared to watch proceedings on behalf of relatives of the deceased, and Mr. Mowbray appeared for Philip Terence English, driver of the car that came into collision with the bicycle which Miss Ford was riding at the time of the accident. Evidence was given by a. number of witnesses, none of whom saw the actual accident. Mr. McKeau found that death wte due to heart failure following on severe cerebral injuries sustained by being knocked down by a ear driven by Philip Terence English. His Worship said that was the formal verdict. Commenting upon the evidence the coroner said deceased appeared to have jbeen riding without a light. It looked to him that unless the car had brilliant lights it would have been difficult to ccc the deceased. On the other hand, had the car been going at only 18 miles an hour it should have been pulled up in a lees distance than was shown on the plan. Mr. llcKean added: "I am not prepared to say on the evidence before mc. that there was no negligence of any kind on the part of the driver of the car. I have merely decided the cause of death. ,.
