A CRISIS AVERTED. SYDNEY, April 25. The New South Wales Parliament, opens to-morrow. The crisis which was impending in the Coalition has been averted by the j appointment of Mr. W. E. Wearne (Minister of Lands) as deputy-leader without, the right of reversion to the Premiership! ov Acting-Premiership. Mr. Levy has teen selected by the Coalition for nomination to the Speakership. Mr. W. F. Dunn (ex-Minister of Agriculture) has been elected deputy leader of 1 the N>w South Wales Labour party.—(A. ! and N.Z. Cable.)
MEASURE OF ECONOMY.
REDUCTION OF STATE STAFFS. (Received 11.30 a.m.t SYDNEY, this day. In taking over the control of the State enterprises, which as part of the scheme of economy are transformed fron* a separate department to a branch of the Public Works Department, Mr. Henley said the policy of the Government was to encourage private enterprise in every way. He foreshadowed a review of the whole State enterprise scheme on strictly economical lines, securing the highest efficiency and full value for any expenditure which might be sanctioned.
