Syrian Disorders Renewed. It is roporteil that conflicts have been renew*! in Syria. A French officer and seven Syrians have been killed and sixteen wounded.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) New South Wales Loan. Tt is expected that the New South Wales loan of £5.000.000 at 5 per cent, will be issued in London at the end of the next week. The price has not vet been fixed.—(A. and N.Z. Monast— r Explosion. A dispatch from Belgrade states that the explosion at Monastir of a dump containing 400 wagon loads of munitions, was the work of Macedonian revolutionaries.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) Crippled Boxers. J. Phillips, of Melbourne, champion of West Australian goldflelds, who has lost one arm below the elbow, reached the finals of tbe heavyweight championship for disabled soldiers. He was beaten by Major Leahy, army champion of 1913, who bas lost one leg.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) Nelson Apples Sell Well* The demand for apples continues keen. The Westmoreland's shipment from Nelson lias been cleared. Cox's Orange Pippins realised 10/6 to 25/ a case. Ribstones 16/ to 20/. Worccsters 17/6 to 20/, Reinettes 18/ to 19/. Golden Pippins 17/ to 22/6.—(A. and N.Z.) Insurance Fraud Alleged. Harry Smith, a worsted spinner, of Leeds, and his wife, have been com-1 mitted for trial at Edinburgh on charges of attempting to defraud the Yorkshire Insurance Company. It is alleged that accused after buying Linden Park Mansion, Hawick, irf* Roxburgh-! shire, insured the house and contents for £73,500 and then wilfully set fire to it in May, 1021. claiming £50.000 from; the company. — (A. and N.Z.
