GOLDEN WEDDING.

MR. AND MRS. ENOCH WOOD. i One of those happy experiences which •is the exclusive portion 01 people who are advanced in years, aud then to comparatively few, fell to the lot of Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Wood, two old Auckj land residents, who celebrated their i golden wedding on April 10 at their rcsii dence, "Warwick,"' Mt. Albert Road. | In addition to their personal blessing of • the retention of much physical health 1 and vigour, Mr. and Mrs. Wood have j the joy of an unbroken family circle, i the six daughters and two sons of the i marriage, most of whom are married, being present with their families to cele- : brate the occasion with a family ro- ; union. The descendants now number fourteen grandchildren and one great • grandson. During the day aged couple were the recipients of many presents from members of the family and friends, as well as a large number of congratulatory letters and telegrams. A pleasing function took place in the afternoon, when a deputation of ladies | from the Y.W.1.A., including the president, Mrs. G. H. Wilson, called foT the purpose of presenting Mrs. Wood with a charming bouquet, together with a brooch in the form of a golden triangle, to commemorate the occasion. Mrs. AVood is the oldest member of the board of directors, and has been associated with the Y.WjC.A. since its inception in i Auckland. Among the large number of . friends who called to personally tender congratulations were those who had ; been connected with the Newton ConI gregational Church, where Mr. Wood • wan superintendent for over thirty years, whose anniversary services, held lin the old Choral Hall, were an out- ', standing featuTe of Sunday School life in those days.

In spite of his 75 years, Mr. Wood is ' tbe present superintendent of the Mt. j Roskill Congregational Sunday School. | Mr. and Mrs. Wood have always been j identified with the Congregational Church and school life of Auckland. Mr. j Wood being one of the original committee of the Auckland Sunday ' School T'nion. Hailing from Warwickshire and Shropshire respectively. Mr. Wood arrived at Auckland in the Ida Ziegler in 1864. Mrs. Wood reaching these shores tbe previous year in company -with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Snrai_» and family. For many years Mr. Wood was in business in Svmonds i Street, from which he retired in 1901. I
