DIXIELAND OPENS.
I . I . CABARET A BRTLLJAXT SUCCESS. The large and finely furnished hall where Dixieland >* to have Hβ hea<-J----cruarters was packed to the doors with merry jazzers last night on tho occasion of the opening function. With over ISO couples on the ballroom floor, and tho brilliant lighting and decorative effect*, not forgetting the frocks of the female dancers, the ecenc presented ivns one of unusual gaiety. Apart from the lighting effects and decoration there are two spacious lounges, containing luxurious furnishings that are pleasiiifr. These furnishings were manufactured by Richard Arthur. Ltd. The lounges are built on a raised platform, and afford those '•sitting out" a fine view of the gay throng below. There are also spotlights fitted, and this modern innovation; was last night the Subject of "much favourable comment. The floor permits of eaey comfortable dancing, and is very well laid. Excellent refreshments, supplied on handy table-, leave nothing to be desired in respect to the catering. The jazz orchestra is composed of capable artists skilled in rendering appropriate music for cabaret darning. Certainly Dixieland has fulfilled all expectations. Last night an exiiibition of dancing was given by ilise Webster and Mr. Dean, by special request.
