HEALTH OF CITY.

j IN SATISFACTORY CONDITION. A "Star"" reporter was informed l>y Dr. T. J. Hughes, of the Health Department, this morning, that an inspection of Queen Street including fruiterers", restaurautueri?' premises, etc., had Iwen completed, with ;< very satistactory result. With the exception of two premiges, no serious complaint could be found, and neither of the cases he mii staneed warranted a prosecution. "1 . consider this to he very satisfactory in- ; deed," remarked Dr. Hughes. ; Ho believed the health generally of the ' community to be most satisfactory in- : deed for thie time of the year. There ' liad heon very few notifications during : the past fortnight, and practically nofch- [ ing of moment. The epidemic of gastric i influenza, which was prevalent a week or so ago, had considerably decreased. . There had also only been an isolated case or so of infantile paralysis, but nothing of a serious character. It was the same with other notifiable diseases. > Notwithstanding the fact that the ocean -traffic during the past few weeks had been particularly heavy, he said that [ nothing of any importance had been re- ' ported from tlie port of Auckland to the ; Health Department.
