EXPENSIVE RAT-CATCHING.
j (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, thie day. Rat catching operations have cost the Wellington City Council £443 to capture '20:11 rats, or nearly 4/ti per head. The Mayor told the Council that he wae ■quite satisfied that rats do not exist here to the extent they were led to euppoee. "A private rat catcher 'had been at work for some yeara, and had kept them down. It was decided to discontinue operations after this month.
