EGG-LAYING CONTEST.

CHRISTCHURCH RECORDS. - (By Telegraph.—Press Assoclatiou.) CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The New Zealand Utility Poultry Club's seventeenth egg-laying competition was terminated to-day. Phenomenal egg-laying was again recorded by individual birds, ln the single pen section W. H. West's White Legborn laid 330 eggs for 51 -weeks, although she did not come into profit until 10 days after the commencement of the < ompetition. Her performance since October 13 has never been equalled in any competition.. In laying 815 eggs In 51 weeks R. W. Coombe's White Leghorns created a new record for three birds. In the duck section heavy scoring was done by the single-penned ducks of It. W. Hawkes and T. Douthwalte with 32) and 319 eggs respectively. A noticeable feature of the present competition was the increased average ezz yield from Silver Wyandottes— '£ll eggs per bird. '
