German Competition in Holland. A bill has been introduced in the Netherlands States. (General to prohibit temporarily Herman imports, as a protection against the German exchange.— (A. and X.Z. Cable.) English Tennis Home. It is definitely announced ihat the All-England tennis championslups will be played on the new courts at Wimbledon, where the stand in the centre court will accommodate 12.CK10 people. Locked-out Engineers. The British Ministry of Health baa decided that though the locked-out engineers arc not entitled to unemployment doles, those who are destitute are entitled to poor law relief. —(A. and X.Z. Cable.) Port of London Charges Reduced. The Port of Ixmdon Authority announces reductions of charges ranging from 5 to 15 points, bringinj? them to between 35 and 95 *>er cent above prewar rates. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.) Relay Race Record. The Cambridge University team won the four-mile international relay race by 75vds from Pennsylvania, and Oxford, 12vds behind, was third. Time, ISrain 7 2-ssec, a new British record.— (A. and N.Z. The Canadian Government has introduced a bill consolidating the contrpl of the military, naval, air, and mounted police forces into a single Department of Defence. This is following the Australian plan.—(A. and X.Z. Cable.) Princess Mary's Home. Princess Mary and her husband, Viscount have returned to London, and are residing at Chesterfield House. They intend to reside subsequently at Coldsborough Hall, Knaresborough.— (A. and X.Z. Cable. 1 Cheaper Money In London. The cheapness of money is illustrated by the allotment of Treasury hills at an average rate of 53/1 per cent, which is over 20/ lees than on January 13. All gilt-edgrd securities are very firm.
