YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH.

INQUEST AT WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. An inquest, was opened to-day regarding the death at the hospital of a young woman named Eva Simes, the circumstances of whose admission to the institution have been the subject of police investigation. Dr. Harris, house surgeon at the hospital, said the deceased wa-s admitted on March 23. She was in a state of profound toxaemia. Her bodily condition showed signs of neglect, and she had evidently been delivered of a premature child. She refused to give any details about herself and died on Friday. Witness held a post mortem examination. The cause of death was general peritonitis. It was possible the injuries could have been 6elf-inflicted. It was stated that the woman came from Christehurch. The inquest was adjourned.
