TRANSPORT OF SHEEP.

RAILWAY TRUCKS DIFFICULTY. The trucking and handling- of sheep on the railways was the subject of comment at the meeting of the provincial executive of the Farmers' Union las: evening. Mr. A. A. Ross said that the months of February and March were always difficult ones in regard to obtaining trucks for sheep. This year the position appeared to be worse (hail ever, and farmers had been put to great inconvmiience. The number of sheep trucks apparently not been increased, and representations on the matter should be made to the proper authorities. The difficulty of settlers ascertaining when cheep should arrive at a railway station was another matter connected with the transport of stock. occurred in which sheep had beon left in trucks after arrival at the, railway destination and a number of the sheep had died. He considered that someone ehould be placed in authority at railway stations by the Railway Department to see that "stock were unloaded oh arrival. Mr. Cy.K. Wilson said that the transport '61 sheep in the rush season wae a very old grievance, the trouble probably being due to the concentration of trucks at unsuitable centres. Much expense Was incurred by farmers as a result of the bad system in vogue, and he thought representations should be made to the Government urging the necessity for an improved system of truck supply. The matter was referred to the standing committee to investigate and report.
