SCHEMES FOB REIOEF. (■Received 2.30 p.m.* LONDON", February 0. In the House of Commons to-day on resumption of the debate on the Adilress-inßeply the Labour party moved the following amendment: "The House regrets, in view of the disaster to British trade and the prevalence of unemployment, that there is no indication that the Government is prepared to deal effectively with causes of unemployment, or to provide useful productive work, nor any indication that it will grant substantial aid to local authorities, who cannot be expected to shoulder this national burden.'" Dr. T. -T. MacXamara, Minister of Labour, detailed the various schemes to relieve unemployment in" the autumn, which were now" employing 126.000 men. Dealing with Labour criticisms, be asked why the Labour members refused the Government's invitation asking tne party's help thirteen months ago.—(A. and X.Z. Cable.)
