AUCKLAND AMENDMENTS. \V XLI.I XGTON'S ANTAGONISM. (By TelosrnDh—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Xcw Zealand Run-by Union's letter stating that the English Rugby Union had approved of the Auckland rule re kicking into touch provisionally, but restricted it to Auckland, -was considered by the local union. The rule pro-vide-i that when the ball is kicked into touch within 2.". yards of the kicker's goal-line, the opposing side shall 'bring it out opposite the spot where the kicker was. Discussion on the letter showed that the Wellington Union is unfavourable to the alteration. The chairman considered that tiie Xcw Zealand Union had gone further than it had authority lor. Other speakers believed that many unions had changed i heir view*. The chairman suggested that step-; be taken to pet the rule rescinded, and the matter was deferred.
