ORONGO SOLDIERS' BLOCK
BALLOT FOR LAND. The Auckland Land Board yesterday conducted a ballot for 037 acres of land in the Orongo settlement and 13,046 aeros of second and third-class land in other parts of the district. The Orongo land was divided into 13 sections. The highest number of applicants for any one section was 33, and the lowest 8. There were only 19 applicants for the second and third-class land (open to public ballot), those being confined to 2,837 acree of the best available. The successful applicants were:— Sec. 5 (48 acres), C. F. Hearn, Owliango: sec. 7 (43 acres), I. A. Holdeu, Kopu; sec. 0 (48 acres), J. M. Smith, llangaiti; see. 11 (48 acres), J. W. Wilkins, Whakatane; sec. 13 (47 acres), E. S. H. Hooper, Hamilton East;; ccc. 15 (44 acres), W. Paterson, Huntly; sec. 18 (44 acres), Leslie Ryan, Te Aroha; sec. •20 (50 acres), R. H. Gray, Kihikihi; sec. 22 (50 acres), T. D. Connel, Waitara; sec. 36 (35 acres), F. V. Cutting, Tβ Aroha; sec. 37 (73 acres), R. H. Daldy, Mamaku: ccc. 42 (52 acres), Leonard Ryan, Waihou; sec. 43 (51 acres), B. E. B. Kecnan, Wanganui. The Fallot for the second and thirdclass land resulted:—Sec. 1, block V., Waitoa (461 acres), S. T. Pateman,Patetonga; sec. 511, Taupiri Parish (442 acres), A. E. I rino (633 acres), Wallace King, Marokopa; sec. 15, block XVI., Piako (79 acres), J. H. Newdiok, Pa-tetonga; sec. 10, block XVI., Piako (7S acres), J. H. Newdick, Patetonga.
