BENZINE EXPLOSION.
MATCH THROWN INTO BUCKET

WHANGAKEI, Friday, j A peculiar accident, caused through benzine becoming ignited, occurred in Whiingarei's main thoroughfare to-day,; a young motor mechanic named Ivan; lleclirc being severely burnt about the arms. Repairs to a motor bread delivery van were being cllccted by Beelire, and 'in order to clear the benzine pipe the benzine was run out of the tank into a bucket under the. car. By some mischance a match thrown down bv a passer-by ignited the benzine in the bucket, and an explosion followed, (he llamcs enveloping young Beelire. But for the prompt action of Mr. Gibson, a member of Hallensteins Bros', staff, the consequences might have been more serious. Seizing a rug from the stock lie enveloped the burning man in it, and by rolling him in the road and water channel the flames were extinguished. Bcchrc's both arms and neck were severely burned, and also his fiicc and hair were scorched. After first-aid treatment he was removed to the hospital. The motor van wits only siigntly damaged.
