THAMES MINERS' DISPUTE.
A Conciliation Council, presided over by Mr. T."Harle Giles, sat at Thames on Tuesday and Wednesday, in the dispute •between the Miners' Union and the j mine owners, and a complete agreement j was arrived at between the representa- > tives of the Miners' Union and three out i of the four representatives of the mine : owners. The final settlement was pre- , vented by the fourth representative of the employers, who appeared in the interests of Mr. H. H. Adams, not having the discretionary power allowed him to come to a settlement, and being bound down 'by definite instructions from his ( principal. •<• The meeting was adjourned sine die to allow of a conference between the Commissioner and Mr. Adams at Auckland on Monday next in regard to the one or two points in dispute.
