WHISKT NO GOOD FOR 'FLU.
Last December the liquor people in the House of Commons said that whisky and aspirin were, in combination, unfaiiing preventives of colds and influenza. The Minister of Health said: "1 am advised that the prophylactic value of whisky, whether in conjunction with aspirin or otherwise, in the treatment of influenza, cannot be regarded as sufficiently established." In 1918 the American Medical Association, represent mo , SQ.OOO practising; physicians, went on re' cord against whisky as a cure or preventive of influenza or pneumonia, l> William Osier, recognised as the world's greatest medical authority, was against whisky in the treatment of diseases. Dr. J. D. Robertson. Commissioner of Health, Chicago, said: "I want to tell the people of Chicago that whisky is not a cure for the 'flu, , nor a help. I will <r 0 even further and say that the ereatlv reduced death rate we have had durimr this epidemic (end of 1910) may 1)e attr ? buted in great part to the absence of alcoholic conditions in the patient " Dr. Harvey W. Wiley.
