BIG DROP IN AUGUST. £134,000,000 BELOW LAST TEAR (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON,'September 8. During August imports decreased by £G4,762,2(i5, exports by £63,557,028, and re-exports by £3,370,568, compared with the previous August. The principal decreases in imports were: Grain and (lour £10,352,542, dutiable food and drink £4,737,778, wood and timber £5,489,001, raw cotton £7,264,004, raw wool £4,624,527.
In exports the leading decreases were: Iron, steel and manufactures £8,367,668, cotton yarns and manufactures £24,811,863, woollen and worsted yarns and manufactures £7,982,143, apparel £3,114,460.
The principal increases were imports of meat £2,450,977.—(A. and KZ.)
