BELL OF ST. MARY'S.
! In the course of making alterations to the schoolroom of St. Mary's Cathedra], ! at Parnell, the contractor had a rather ticklish incidental job in the shifting of thp 05-foot bell tower a distance of eighteen feet. Having prepared a concrete foundation at the new site, the workmen proceeded with jacks and planks to deal with the moving of thp awkward top-heavy towtfr, which had to be kept on the perpendicular and inched along to it 3 fresh resting-place. There were breathless moments when the tongue of the bell up aloft rolled in its cheek, but the job was successfully carried out, and the bell of St. Mary's is once again in a position to ring out its historic summons without danger of i being humbled by a fall.
