FAT STOCK MARKET.

BIG FALL IN PRICES. MANY CATTLE, BUYERS. The prices realised at to-day's fat stock market at Westfield conducted by Mcssr.s. Auckland and Son are reported to be the lowest experienced for many years. There was a comparatively large yarding of animals, but only a limited demand by buyers, and all classes suffered a severe drop in prices. In all 008 cattle, comprising 520 steers, 80 cows, and two bulls, were yarded, this being 67 in excess of the previoussweek, when the yarding was a heavy one.

Extra choice ox "sold at £1 10/ per 1001b; choice and prime, £1 4/ to £1 9/; ordinary and plain, 19/ to £1 2/; rough, 8/ to 10/. Prime young cow and heifer, £1 to £1 5/; ordinary cow, 16/ to 10/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £15 7/0 to £10 each, the latter price being realised for a steer that came from Reid Bros., Opotiki. Heavy prime brought from £11 to £13 17/0; lighter prime, £8 to £8 10/; light prime, £5 10/ to £7 10/; small and unfinished £3 5/ to £o. Heavy prime young cows and heifers ranged from £S to £12, which price was realised for a show cow from Opotiki; lighter prime cows brought from £4 10/ to' £7, and others from £1 to £3 10/.
