A statement that wa.* recently made by the Hon. Mr. .1. T. Paul in the Arbitration Court that the price paid to workers for making such articles as blouse* and pyjamas was so ridiculously low compared with rates paid by the drapers in Auckland that it was received by tbe trade here with derision. Inquiry, however, seems to indicate that under piecework rates in a certain Wellington factory some time ago prices paid were very low. In Auckland tbe price paid for similar work by the members of the Drapers and Clothiers' Association bears no relation whatever to the figures quoted in Court, being from three to I four timee in exceee of thoeo pricce.
