The visitor* arrived from the South this niorninfr, and were tendered a civic retention today in the concert chamber of the Town ! Hall. The Hon. J. C. Coates. Minister of Public AVorks, represented the Govern-: ment. The Mayor of Wellineton, Mr. R. A. Wrisht, M.P.. extended a hearty welcome , to the Australians. He referred to the preat record established by the team , since its arrival in Xew Zealand. Mr. Coates, on behalf of the Government, extended a cordial welcome to the visitors, remarking that they were a credit to Australia, whose people were | always heartily welcome in Xew Zealand.; Mr. Rosward. manager of the Australians, replied, stressing: the fart that this j team's success would jrive a sreat filip to the amateur srame in Australia, where they were fighting against bisr odds : atrainst a professional pame.
