LOWER LAND VALUES.
AND GOVERNMENT ASSESSMENTS. REQUEST FOR REDUCTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TAIHAPE, this day. A large and representative meeting of settlers was held at Taihape, at which the following resolution was carried unanimously:—'"That, in view of the recent fall in land values, as borne out by the president of the Land Valuations Assessment Court held at Marton, the Valucc-General be urged to reconsider the excessive valuations of land in the four northern ridings of Rangitikei County; further, that, to avoid delaythat would be involved in making newvaluations, the Valuer-General be requested to make a substantial percentage reduction in the valuations ot jail lands in the said riding."
