CURTAILED TOTE PERMITS.
» PROTEST FROM LEVIN. ! (By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.) ! LEVIN, this day. A large indignation meeting representing all sections of the community, passed resolutions last night protesting against the Racing Commission's withdrawal of the Horowhenua Racing Club's permit. The speakers claimed that Levin -was entitled to a permit on the Commissioner's own population basis. The racing club and Pastoral Association purchased the ground by the issue of debentures for £4,.">00 two years ago, and have since spent £2,600 in improvements. Withdrawal of the racing permit meant extinction of the show, as it would Ibe unable to maintain the ground without the racing club's cooperation. , ,
