LEGITIMACY LAWS.
AFFILIATION REFORMS.. LONDON, August 10. The Parliamentary Labour party has introduced a bill dealing with illegitimacy. It proposes that affiliation applications may be made before the birth, of a child, that the maximum weekly maintenance be £2, that the father may be ordered to contribute towards the apprenticeship or special education of the child, that nwintenance may be ordered beyond the age of If! years if the child is physically or mentally deformed, or alternatively the Court may order a lump sum ill payment, and that subsequent marriage of the parents shall legitimatise a child born out of wedlock.— (A. and N.Z.
