TURKISH RETREAT.
RETIRING FROM ESKISHEHR. GREEKS CLOSING ON RAILWAY, LONDON, July 20. A message from Athens states (hat the evacuation of Eskishehr, the junction of the branch railway to Angora and the main Constantinople-Bagdad railway, has been begun by the Turks. King Constantino bus left Smyrna for the front. The Greeks captured four big guns and 11 machine guns north-west of Kutaiali. The Turks are now retreating on the whole front, with the Greeks in pursuit. Athens newspapers declare that heHides several thousand prisoners the Greeks have captured an immense.. quantity of boot}-. They emphasise the (>olitical and strategical importance of Kutaiali. the fall of which is likely to lead to the spe|iy capture of the main Turkish railway lines.— (A. and N.Z.)
