Judging from the Australian Davis Cup team's form in the Ontario championship games, opinion here is that Canada -_. a better chance of surviving the tion games than was formerly coneeiijij. : Only two Canadians have yet been cho~-_t — Bennett and Holmes, of Winnipeg, who were defeated in .he doubles final by C. [ V. Todd and N. Peach. The Canadian l pair was beaten, o—4,0 —4, 5 —7, 5 —7, 7 —5, | 6—l, and were twice within a point of ■ winning the match in the fourth set. Todd has shown excellent form, but the other Australians are patchy. NEW YORK, July 20. The Davis Cup committee has announced lliat the Belgian team is unable to come j to America. Their default puts Japan I in the semi-finals against India, which defeated France. In the second round ■if the contest Slecm (India) defeated SamazeuiUi (France), o—l, (i — :i. 0—...
