■ The fortnightly meeting of the F.irken-h-ead .Rorough Council was held last nighr. The .Mayor. Mr. .1. TV. Court, presided, and Crs. Alfred .Bartlett. Thos. Smdili. Robt. Taylor, Phil. 11. Havward. 1_ It 1.. Moller. F. W. McCowan. K. C. Walton and -Albert Hadtield were also present. •Loan Money.—The Mayor stated that £_O_o loan money had tieen remitted by the State Advances Office of the £3000 applied for. The balance of £3001) wmld be needed shortly. The finance Committee was requested to go into the matte-. I-Iydr-—l-ctrie -league.—Cr. A. Rartlett was appointed to represent ibe eouii-cil at rhe meeting convened liy the I'hanrber of Commerce this evening for the purpose of resuscitating the .Hydro-.Electric Ix—sue. C'onferen-ce.—ln accordance with an intimation .N'orth-eote >l-orough I'ouncil if. was resolved -to convene a meeting of the joint councils to consider the questions of electricity and sewerage, the conference to be held in the Birkenhead Chaml>e.r ou Tuesday evening. Oth Au_ust. Postal Matters.—Cr. Walton reported the threatened discontinuance of the Birkdale ■mail delivery. The council resolved to take steps to prevent tbi.s disability if its contemplation was confirmed, and to ais.r .point out lo the jr-ista 1 authorities the desirability of improvem-.-nf in postal matters in Birkenhead.
