BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH ROADS

(Tt» tlie Editor.) •Sir,—The disgraceful condition of tlie principal thoroughfare in Birkenhead requires that public attention be drawn thereto, in the hope that our present Council will see about "mending our ways." I think the old Council was very remiss in not applying the good old motto, "A stitch in time eaves nine" to our roads; ibut they are gone, and the present Council would conserve everybody's interest by getting the many holes in the road properly filled and rolled in. so that wheeled traflie could paes over it in safety, and with comfort to the drivers and passenger?, a thing impossible under present conditions. A few Hiarrows of metal properly placed in the many holes, which oould '!>o done foy the pang of surfacemen now employed in two or three days, would turn what is now a disgrace to our borough into a credit to it.—l am, etc..
