The Rev. W. Bullock, organising secretary for the Church of England Men's Society, is visiting Auckland.

Mr. H. Poland, M.P. for Ohinemuri, arrived this morning in Auckland by steamer.

Mr. R. Smart, who has been attached to the .Wellington branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has retired on superannuation after over 40 years' sen-ice.

Mr. E. G. Rhodes, clerk of the Waipukurau and Waipawa Magistrate's Court _as been promoted to the position of deputy registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington.

Messrs. H. J. Edmiston (presidents and W. E. Arey (secretary), of the Auckland Retail Booksellers' Associa-' tion, left Iby the express last night to attend the Dominion Conference of Booksellers, to ibe held in Wellington.

Mr. O. C. Hebb, a director and manager of Lever Brothers (New Zealand), Limited, since the company's formation, has been appointed managing director, and on the came occasion Mr. W. H. Trevan, who for many years has filled responsible positions in Lever Brothers' organisations, both at Home and abroad, as manager and secretary.

Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Parsons, from Perth, West Australia, . are now residing in Auckland, and have taken a flat at 120, Grafton Road. Before being transferred to Perth Mr. Parsons was for some years manager of the New Zealand Insurance Co., Ltd., at Chrfstchureh, and is now acting-inspector at the head office of that company.
