JAPAN'S FRIENDSHIP
FOR ENGLAND AND AMERICA.
NO AGGRESSION IN CHINA.
WASHINGTON, July 4.
Baron Shidehara, Japanese Ambassador at Washington, states that Japan naturally is anxious to strengthen her ties of friendship and loyal co-opera-tion witli (lie British Empire. She is also fixed in ber determination that nothing shall hamper Japan's traditional goodwill toward the United States. Both aspirations are complementary and essential.
Japan fully realises that any venture of aggression in China would be hopeless of attainment and destructive of Japan's security. Japan desires to cultivate relations with China of mutual helpfulness. The Anglo-Japanese Alliance has never exerted an influence in other directions.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
