ELECTRICITY SUPPLY.
>; r. :-:deX's requirements
The resolution passed by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce urging upon the Minister of J'ublic Works the necessity for immediate prosecution of the scheme was discussed by the Mount Eden Borough Council last evening, and a resolution to support it was carried unanimously.
Mr. K. 11. I'ottcr. while reciitrniaing the importance of Arapuni, was anxious that the Government should proceed with the smaller schemes until it was ready to <r 0 on with tlie lurge scheme. He contended tliat the Council should do its utmost to induce the Government tn go forward with the smaller schemes. Tlie nifhfc load, he added, could not be used in the Waikato, and could be utilised ill Auckland, particularly in the suburbs.
The Mayor (Mr. J. W. Shackelford) said tlie demands of Auckland were too great to allow any flittering away on small schemes. People in Hamilton and Auckland were not losing sight of the necessity of getting all the power possible from Horahora.
The resolution mentioned was then carried.
The Mayor went on to refer to the matter of getting electricity for Mount Eden. He said that he had been pushing on the matter with tlie Eden and ilanu°kau Tower Board. In accordance with the Minister's proposal (with the exception of his recommendation for a -.bird engineer as referee), it had been derided that the chairman of the Board (Mr. J. Park) should arrange to meet the Mayor of Auckland (Mr. J. H. Gunson), the City Electrical Engineer (Mr. A. Wyllie) and the Board's engineer (Mr. Brown), in order to formulate a basis for one united Power Board for Auckland isthmus.
